FAQ
Which do I need, side mount or surface mount?
Side-mount posts bolt to the outside face of the deck rim or stringer. They keep the full deck width usable and look clean from the outside. Surface-mount posts bolt down on top of the deck boards or concrete. Use them for slabs, patios, or when the rim can't take a fastener.
How far apart should posts be?
No more than 4 ft apart, measured center to center. Our Railing Calculator works out the spacing and post count for you.
What's the difference between an end post and an intermediate post?
End posts (1/4" wall) go at the start and end of every cable run, where the cable is tensioned. That's why their walls are twice as thick. Intermediate posts (1/8" wall) go in between and support the cable as it passes through.
What do I use at a corner?
Use two end posts at every corner, one to end each run. Join the top rail with a 90° Top Bar Connector.
How many screws do I need?
Plan on 2 Top Bar Mounting Screws per post and 2 Top Bar Connector Screws per connector. Both come in packs of 20.
Is post-mounting hardware included?
No. The right fasteners depend on what you're mounting to (wood framing, concrete, steel), so email us and we'll recommend hardware for your project.
Do you sell cable and fittings?
Cable and cable fittings are coming soon. In the meantime, contact us and we'll tell you what works with our posts.
Is 42" tall enough for code?
Yes. California local building codes require a 42" minimum railing height for both residential and commercial projects, and our 42" posts are built to that height. Always confirm with your local building department before you install.
What colors are available?
Black, Silver and Bronze powder coat. Posts, top rail and connectors all come in every color, so your whole system matches.
Can I cut the top rail?
Yes. Use a miter saw with a non-ferrous (aluminum-cutting) blade.
Where are your products made?
They're American manufactured from domestically sourced materials.
What's the warranty?
Our products are warranted against manufacturer structural defects, and the powder coat finish has a 1-year warranty.
Coastal / salt water installations: If our aluminum posts are installed near salt water, any warranty claim for failing powder coating is void. Salt exposure can cause galvanic corrosion where dissimilar metals interact (for example, aluminum posts in contact with stainless steel cable, fittings and fasteners), which can damage the powder coat.
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship within 1–5 business days by UPS. Only top rails longer than 10 ft ship by special freight. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and we ship within the US only. See our Shipping Policy.
